The candidate of the Action Peoples Party for the 2023 gubernatorial election in Abia state, Hon. Mascot Uzor Kalu, today, attended the valedictory mass in the honour of the outgoing Bishop of Umuahia Diocese, His Grace, Most Rev. Fr. Lucius I. Ugorji.
Speaking at the event organized at the Mater Dei Cathedral, Umuahia, to celebrate the fruitful years of the episcopal Ministry of Father Ugorji, Hon. Mascot thanked the clergyman for the fatherly roles he played for him when he was the Chief of Staff to the former Abia State Governor.
“When I came to Umuahia 15 years ago, as a young man and Chief of Staff, you were always there for me.”
He further appreciated him for his uncommon transformation of the Umuahia Diocese and wished him greater things in his future endeavors.
His Grace, Rev. Fr. Lucius Ugorji, who was appointed as the Bishop and Administrator of Umuahia Catholic Diocese in 1990, has served in that capacity for 32 years (1900—2022). With this valediction, he is expected to proceed to Owerri to become the Arch-Bishop of the Owerri Metropolitan Diocese.
