Excerpts from his recent radio interview:
“When people ask me if I have a special package for youths, I always laugh. Why?
“If you create jobs for youths that are within, let’s say, the ages of 30–40, what then happens when they are above the youthful age? Are you saying that those over 40 shouldn’t have jobs because they are no longer young?
“Let me tell you, we need to create all-encompassing job opportunities. There are job opportunities that will absorb all Abians, irrespective of their age.
“Our vision is to create job opportunities that will allow people to fit in based on their age and qualifications. There are opportunities where everybody within the productive segment of Abia’s population can fit in.
“If you are within the age of a supervisor and have supervisory experience and qualifications, you fit in as the supervisor; if you are within the age of a manager and have managerial experience and qualifications, you fit in as the manager, etc. Then, from where you fit in, you can start from there and climb up the ladder.
“So, as you can see, we are not just coming to create jobs for youths alone; we are coming to create jobs for all Abians.”
Indeed, when an economist speaks, there is a difference.
