The Governorship Candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP) in Abia State, Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, will on August 13th, 2022, receive a special recognition award from the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria (PCN) at Hope Waddell, the church’s headquarters in Calabar.
In a statement released on Thursday, signed by Most Rev. Miracle Ajah, PhD, the Principal Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria and obtained by our correspondent, it states that Mascot Kalu will be honoured as “A Kingdom Builder” at the opening ceremony of the 25th General Assembly meeting of the Church.
The statement added that the Church will use the opportunity to celebrate 176 years of Christian witness in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Mascot is believed to enjoy overwhelming support among the people of his Abia North region ahead of the governorship election in the state.
He is running a campaign targeted at uniting Abians because, according to him, disunity is the bane of development in the state.
He is expected to test his popularity at the polls with the likes of Uche Ikonne, the ruling PDP’s governorship candidate; Alex Otti, the candidate of the Labour Party; and APGA and APC, which are still grappling with fragmentation and factionalization, weakening their chances to dislodge the PDP, which has been in power since 1999.
