It was another chieftaincy title and royal endorsement for the governorship candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP) in Abia state, Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, as his candidacy continue to gain more widespread support from traditional rulers in the Abia North senatorial district.
At the palace of His Royal Majesty (HRM), Eze Jerry Akpala, Aka Ji Ofo I of Item, the Traditional Royal Council of Item crowned the former Chief of Staff to the Abia state government with a chieftaincy title, Aka Ji Mba I of Item and further endorsed his candidacy.
Speaking on behalf of the royal fathers, Eze Jerry after citing a passage from the Bible, Ecclesiastes 8:4, said their support for Chief Kalu is not borne out of sentiment but for the love they have for him while adding that his fighting for what rightfully belongs to Abia North.
“We are not sentimental about this. We can give a chieftaincy title to anybody who merits it, but we do not just endorse anybody.
“You are fighting for what rightfully belongs to us, and we do hope that you will not disappoint us.”
Chief Kalu, on his part, assured the royal fathers that he never disappoints them, stressing that he is in the governorship contest with all his efforts.
