Abia APP Second Wave Ward-Round
The Abia state governorship candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, took his INEC ward-round campaign to Aba South L.G.A. today, with an eloquent assurance of his party’s commitment to restore the lost pride of the commercial city of Aba.
Chief Kalu, who is an Aba-born (Nwa Aba) entrepreneur, speaking at the different wards he visited for campaigns, identified trading and football as the two trademarks of Enyimba city, but decried the dwindling fortunes of the two social activities.
Trading, according to the APP governorship candidate, “is what Aba is known for and remains the primary constituency of anybody born, raised, or living in the city.”
He further identified the impasse between Port Harcourt Road and Aba/Port Harcourt Express Way as one of the major factors that have slowed down business, pointing out that the two roads are sensitive to the commercial activities of the city.
On reviving football activities in Aba, the former Abia state Chief of Staff, while addressing the audience, disclosed that there would be a minimum fifty percent reservation of slots by the state-owned football club, Enyimba, for homegrown footballers to encourage local talents.
Chief Kalu’s running mate, Prof. Osondu Akoma while giving credence to the commitment of his party to restoring the pride of Aba, said the city will wear a new look if APP is voted into power.
In his remark, the Abia South senatorial candidate of the APP, Chief Signor Kanu, acknowledged the economic importance of Aba in Nigeria and said, if elected into the Senate, he will use that as a negotiating tool for the development of the city.
In the same vein, Hon. Christopher Igboko Okorafor (a.k.a. The Boy Is Good), APP’s candidate for Aba North/South Federal House of Representatives, outlined the symbolic correlation between his party, APP, which has an elephant symbol; and Aba, which is known as an elephant city while adding that candidates of the party were mostly drawn from Aba-born businessmen who understand the pains of traders.
Speaking also, Hon. Eze Nnamdi Egege, Aba Central State House of Assembly Constituency candidate of the APP, promised to rely on the crafting ingenuity of the Aba artisans in constructing
waste bins that would be helpful in the waste management of the city.
To the delight of Aba residents, the APP campaign train visited four INEC wards: Ekeoha ward 8, Aba town hall ward 4, Enyimba ward 3, and Ngwa ward 4.
