Thalia Chaverria, a junior from Bakersfield, California was found unresponsive at home. Police say foul play and suicide are not immediately suspected. A 20 year old New Mexico soccer player was found dead in her home earlier this week; police said on Thursday, a roommate called first responders after discovering Thalia Chaverria unresponsive at their residence in 2400 block of El Dorado Court in Las Cruces at about 7am on Monday authorities said.
In early stages of this probe, suicide and foul play were not immediately suspected. There is nothing that would make it appear to be suicide and no evidence of foul play, “police spokesperson Danny Trujillo told Nbc news on Thursday.

New mexico state’s Athletic Director Mario Moccia released a statement addressing Thalia’s death.’’ We lost an amazing young woman and we are deeply saddened by the untimely passing of a member of our Aggie family. Thalia had a vibrant personality and those who were fortunate enough to spend time with her knew she had a bright future ahead of her , Moccia said. The new mexico state community is very tight knit and this tragedy is felt throughout. Our most sincere thoughts and prayers go out to Thalia’s family and friends in this time of mourning.
