Hon. Bernard Udemezue, the member representing the Ayamelum constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, was recently denied entrance into the Assembly’s Complex for arriving at one of the legislative sessions within the week on a commercial tricycle, popularly known as Keke.

MUK TV gathered that the lawmaker was stopped at the entry gate by security guards, who did not recognize him as a legislator and member of the current 8th Assembly because he didn’t ride in an exotic car.

The security personnel on duty vehemently insisted that he would not be allowed into the complex while in a Keke Napep.

They ridiculously went as far as asking why he did not ride to work in a Sports Utility Vehicle, the Toyota Prado, claiming that lawmakers of the Assembly had been giving such SUVs as their official cars.

Such a claim infuriated Hon. Udemezue, who immediately reacted, asking if anyone offered him a car for official duties, which he rejected.

But according to a source close to the lawmaker, Hon. Bernard Udemezue has kept a modest profile and avoided a flamboyant lifestyle since his early days, even before becoming a legislator.

“Since the state government has yet to make available their official cars, Hon. Udemezue has opted to use a tricycle (Keke Napep) to work.”
