The newly sworn-in Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has read the riot act to owners of illegal structures in the capital city.

Wike, in his first press conference as FCT Minister, warned that those distorting the master plan of Abuja under his watch are going to feel bad for their actions.

He said, “If you know you’ve built where you’re not supposed to build, it will go down! It will go down!

“Be you a minister, be you an ambassador; if you know you’ve built where you’re not supposed to build, it will go down.”

The former Rivers governor also warned landowners with Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) who have refused to develop the lands allotted to them by the government but have become land speculators that their land will be gone if they do not develop it.

While warning that uncompleted buildings defacing the FCT will be demolished and taken back by the government, Wike vehemently insisted that he was drafted in as FCT Minister by President Bola Tinubu to revoke

“And those governments have given land with a C of 0, and they refused to develop it; they’re becoming land speculators; sorry, your land is gone.

“Because I don’t understand why the government will give you land, and maybe you bought it for N200,000 and you’re keeping it to sell it for N1 billion, we will take it back and give it to those who will develop it.

“I’m here to revoke; that’s what I’m here to do. And I’m going to do it, and nothing will happen. Heaven will not fall,” he stated.
