Suitcases and bags full of various currencies of different denominations have been uncovered by the Gabonese revolutionaries at the family home of the country’s deposed President, Ali Bongo, where they were stashed away.
The report has it that the monies were found in Yann Ngulu’s house, the house of the Chief of Staff of Nourredine Bongo, and the house of the eldest son of the deposed President.
In the video making the rounds on the X app (formerly Twitter) posted on Wednesday, the bags could be seen filled with bundles of CFA francs, dollars, and euros.
Recall that, as reported by MUK TV, a group of top Gabonese military officers announced on Wednesday, while on live television, that they had taken over power in the country, five days after President Ali Bongo was re-elected in an election they described as fraudulent.
The coup ended Bongo’s 14-year reign in power and family dynasty of 56 years, with his father, Omar Bongo, having been in power for 42 years.
