The kidnapped Benue State Commissioner of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Mathew Abo, has been freed by his abductors.
Abo, who was in captivity for over a week, was abducted by gunmen that invaded his house in Zaki-Biam on Sunday, but reportedly regained his freedom in the early hours of Thursday and was said to have reunited with his family at about 1:00 am.
It is not yet known whether any ransom was paid before his release, but a source close to the family who spoke with The Punch did not confirm or deny that.
However, the Benue State Police Command, at the time of this report, has yet to make any official statement about Abo’s release.
