The Senate has swiftly approved President Bola Tinubu’s 2023 supplementary budget of N2.1 trillion to bolster the fiscal year.
Recall that the president had written to the Senate seeking the approval of the upper legislative chamber for the supplementary budget that was endorsed by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Monday.
On Thursday’s plenary, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, wielded the gavel to announce the approval after Senators voted on the report.
This decision followed the thorough examination and discussion of the report presented by the Senate Committee on Appropriations, The Punch reports.
Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Adeola Olamilekan, laid out the committee’s report for consideration.
It was subsequently adopted after Akpabio threw it open for a voice vote, with Senators from various party affiliations showing their support for the supplementary budget.
