The Court of Appeal in Lagos has overturned the decision of the National Assembly Election Tribunal in Umuahia, which had previously declared Daniel Okeke of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the recent election for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in Abia State.
It would be recalled that in a petition submitted by Chief Daniel Okeke, the APC candidate in the election, a tribunal panel led by Justice Adeyinka Aderebgbe had removed Hon. Chief Ibe Okwara Osonwa, the sitting representative of the Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency, citing non-compliance with the Electoral Act of 2022.
However, the Court of Appeal has now faulted the earlier judgment of the lower court and consequently upheld the election victory of Ibe Okwara Osonwa.
