The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), in a swift and decisive move, have announced an immediate and comprehensive strike in Imo State, effective from midnight today.
This resolution was reached during their “extraordinary” National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held today.
The decision to stage the strike comes in the wake of the disturbing events of last Wednesday, which involved the attack, brutalization, and assault of NLC President, Joe AJaero, alongside other labour leaders.
The incidents, among other concerns, have compelled the labour unions to take this strong stance.
The labour unions also expressed their readiness to declare a nationwide strike commencing on Tuesday, November 14, if their demands are not addressed satisfactorily.
