A devastating incident unfolded on the wedding day of Thai para-athlete Chaturong Suksuk,  who tragically shot his bride, and two family members, and then took his own life.

Former soldier Chaturong, 29, married 44-year-old Kanchana Pachunthuek in northeast Thailand on Saturday.

Unexpectedly leaving the wedding, he returned armed and fatally shot his wife, her 62-year-old mother, and 38-year-old sister.

Tragically, two guests were also hit by stray bullets and rushed to the hospital. One of them succumbed to the injuries.

Although his motive remains unclear, BBC reports that Chaturong “was intoxicated during the incident,” adding that he legally purchased the gun and ammunition last year.

Speculation suggests an argument during the party arose from Chaturong’s insecurity regarding the age gap with Kanchana.

Police, however, noted this as speculation, collecting evidence for a pending closure of the case.

Chaturong and Kanchana had lived together for three years before their marriage, as reported by Thai media.

The groom was an accomplished athlete, winning a silver medal in swimming at the 2022 Asian Para Games in Indonesia.

He was also set to compete in the upcoming World Abilitysport Games in Thailand next month.
