A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) helicopter crash-landed and subsequently exploded at the NAF Base in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, on Friday.
In a statement, NAF spokesperson Edward Gabkwet, an air commodore, confirmed the incident.
The affected aircraft, an NAF MI-35P, had taken off for an operation against oil thieves within the state.
Fortunately, all five individuals aboard survived the crash, sustaining only minor injuries.
