In a solemn ceremony at the Government House, Alagbaka, Akure, Lucky Aiyedatiwa took the oath of office as the new Governor of Ondo State, stepping into the position following the demise of former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
The swearing-in occurred on Wednesday, marking the official transition of leadership in the state.
Rotimi Akeredolu, aged 67, passed away in Germany, as confirmed by the state government. The cause of his death was stated as prostate cancer.
Akeredolu had previously undertaken two medical trips, the first commencing on April 3, 2023, followed by a second on July 10, 2023. Upon returning to Nigeria on September 7, he promptly informed the state House of Assembly of his return.
