Sources close to the family revealed that Na’Abba had been battling an illness for an extended period before his demise. He had previously sought medical treatment abroad and spent several months there before recuperating and returning to Nigeria, as reported by The Punch.

The family sources indicated that the late former Speaker will be laid to rest in Abuja today, adhering to Islamic burial rites.

Na’Abba ventured into politics under the Peoples Democratic Party, becoming the party’s candidate for the Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, a position he secured in the April 1999 general elections.

His ascent to the role of Speaker came amid a political crisis that resulted in the departure of the initial Speaker of the Fourth Republic, Salisu Buhari.

Having pursued his education in political science at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Na’Abba graduated in 1979.
