President Bola Tinubu addressed the prevalent sentiments among millions of Nigerians regarding the challenges they face under his administration, acknowledging the widespread frustration over the cost of living and economic hardships.
In his New Year message to the nation, Tinubu candidly recognized the prevailing concerns, stating,“Conversations and debates have centred on the rising cost of living, high inflation which is now above 28 per cent and the unacceptable high under-employment rate.”
He expressed awareness of the distress felt across diverse regions, remarking, “From the boardrooms at Broad Street in Lagos to the main streets of Kano and Nembe Creeks in Bayelsa, I hear the groans of Nigerians who work hard every day to provide for themselves and their families.
Acknowledging the frustrations, both expressed and unexpressed, Tinubu admitted, “I am not oblivious to the expressed and sometimes unexpressed frustrations of my fellow citizens. I know for a fact that some of our compatriots are even asking if this is how our administration wants to renew their hope.”
Tinubu’s recognition of these challenges signifies an acknowledgment of the difficulties faced by ordinary Nigerians and highlights the need for responsive measures to address the pressing economic issues affecting the populace.
