The Super Eagles have been dealt a blow on the eve of the 2023 Nations Cup tournament set to kick off on January 13th as Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City, aged 27, faces exclusion due to an injury.
This, consequently, has led to the call-up of Alhassan Yusuf as his replacement.
The announcement came via the Super Eagles’ media officer, Babafemi Raji, early Wednesday morning.
With 53 caps, Ndidi has been a pivotal figure in the national team, contributing significantly in both World Cup and Nations Cup tournaments.
In Ndidi’s absence, Alhassan Yusuf, currently playing for Belgium’s Royal Antwerp, steps in.
Yusuf boasts 25 appearances this season for Antwerp across multiple competitions, with a tally of one goal and two assists to his name.
Despite his impressive club performance, Yusuf is yet to make an appearance for the Super Eagles on the international stage.
