A startling revelation has emerged as Abubakar Yakubu, a 30-year-old suspected rapist from Limawa area in Minna, Niger State, admitted to defiling two minors, aged six and eight, due to his confessed lack of confidence in approaching mature ladies.
Paraded at the Niger State Police headquarters in Minna, the suspect detailed his disturbing actions, disclosing that he targeted young girls within the community.
CP Shawulu Ebenezer Damamman, the State Commissioner of Police, explained that the suspect enticed his victims with meager amounts of fifty or one hundred Naira.
“On 2/1/2024 at about 1700hrs, based on information received, the Crack Squad arrested one Abubakar Yakubu, 30yrs, of Limawa area of Minna, suspected of assaulting minor girls within the community sexually,” stated Damamman during the press conference.
The Commissioner highlighted that the suspect, a tricycle rider, had been engaging in such reprehensible acts since last year.
“During preliminary investigation, the suspect narrated that he was a tricycle rider and that he had been having carnal knowledge of two minor girls within the community.
“He also confessed that he usually lured the little girls into his house with a token of fifty naira or one hundred naira since last year.”
The girls subjected to these heinous acts have been promptly given medical attention, and counseling sessions are underway with relevant government agencies.
Yakubu is currently under investigation, with plans for him to be arraigned in court at the earliest opportunity.
