Amidst months of anticipation, Governor Siminilayi Fubara of Rivers State is set to swear in Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie as the Chief of Staff at the Government House in Port Harcourt today, Monday.
The announcement, confirmed by the State Secretary to the Government, Dr Tammy Danagogo, also includes the swearing-in of five special advisers.
Edison Ehie’s transition from the factional Speaker of the State House of Assembly to Chief of Staff raised political discussions, especially in the aftermath of his resignation and the subsequent split in the legislative chamber between Fubara’s supporters and those aligned with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Observers believe Edison’s resignation aligns with the peace agreement brokered by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resolve the ongoing crisis between Governor Fubara and his estranged godfather, Wike.
In addition to Ehie’s appointment, Governor Fubara will administer the oath of office to special advisers, including Dr. Darlington Orji, former State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Prince Solomon Abel Eke, Barr. Aminayanasam Fiberesima, Engr. Deeyah Bariene, and Ohia Prince.
The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House, following a seating time at 10:30 a.m. for the appointees and their guests.
