Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has taken decisive action to rescue and rehabilitate former tennis champion Tanya Okpala, who was recently found homeless and mentally ill on the streets of Awka.
Ms. Okpala, known for representing Nigeria in female tennis tournaments in the 1990s, faced abandonment and neglect, as revealed in a viral video.
Governor Soludo has committed to ensuring her rehabilitation and a meaningful reunion with her daughter and family.
“My government will ensure her rehabilitation and fruitful reunion with her daughter and family,” Soludo posted on his X page on Sunday night.
The Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, has been tasked with overseeing Ms. Okpala’s rehabilitation process.
