A jubilant rally in Ahoada West Local Government Area, celebrating Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s Supreme Court victory, turned chaotic as alleged thugs, reportedly at the behest of the Council Chairman, wreaked havoc on canopies and chairs at the initial venue.
Undeterred, the event relocated to another site, where Council Chairman Hope Ikiriko addressed the allegations, emphasizing the importance of local thanksgiving and urging attendees to maintain decorum.
Despite the initial disturbance, the rally drew an impressive crowd, with the presence of past and current lawmakers, commissioners, and the Governor’s representative, Evans Bipi, a former Chief Whip of the State House of Assembly, who reassured supporters against intimidation and unfounded threats.
Sokari Goodboy, leader of Governor Fubara’s Ahoada West supporters, called on the presidency and police high command to take note of the provocative actions.
Channels TV reports that defectors from the opposition party joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to show their support for Governor Fubara.
The celebration of the Supreme Court victory continues statewide, marked by street processions and open-air thanksgiving services organized by enthusiastic supporters.
