President Bola Tinubu has expressed optimism in Nigeria’s opportunity to clinch the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) title.
The president stated this during the groundbreaking ceremony of a pilot housing project in Abuja on Thursday, February 8.
Following the Super Eagles’ 4-2 victory over the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in a penalty shootout at Bouake International Stadium on Wednesday, hope has surged among many Nigerians for a successful outcome in the competition’s finals.
With the team’s recent performances, anticipation grows for Nigeria’s fourth AFCON victory on Sunday, especially after defeating the host nation, whom they had previously met in the group stage.
Tinubu, known for his “it’s my turn” mantra during the 2023 elections campaign, shares this optimism.
As quoted by PM News Nigeria, he said, “Your Excellencies, congratulations once again everybody on the attainment of victory just last night. It was a moment of joy for every one of us. We are very hopeful that, it is our turn for the trophy.
