After a traumatic ordeal, the 14 travelers abducted by gunmen at Inele Eteke in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State have finally been freed.
In a conversation with journalists on Thursday evening, Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye, confirmed the positive development.
“Just been informed by the DPO that all the kidnapped victims of God is Good Motors, GIG, and ABC have regained their freedom,” he stated.
The abduction occurred on Saturday, February 3, 2024, when armed bandits hijacked two buses belonging to GIG and ABC transport companies, taking away approximately 14 passengers to an undisclosed location.
God is Good Motors was carrying 12 passengers, while ABC had two passengers on board during the incident.
Following the abduction, the families of the victims were contacted by the abductors, who demanded N15 million as ransom for their release.
As of now, it remains unclear whether the ransom was paid before the abductees were released.
