Former Aviation Minister, Osita Chidoka, has shared his poignant memories of his final encounter with the late Group CEO of Access Holdings PLC, Herbert Wigwe.
Chidoka took to X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, revealing his scheduled meeting with Wigwe and his plea to join him on his frequent overseas trips.
Recalling their conversation, Chidoka humorously recounted urging Wigwe to take him along, to which Wigwe replied, “Osita, you can’t keep up with my pace. Just enjoy your peace.”
“We laughed and said goodbyes. It was the last goodbye. He couldn’t make it on Thursday,” the ex-minister recalled.
“Since I left public office, he has been a strong supporter and friend. His wife Chizoba was at my wedding 22 years ago.
“His son looked up to me as his parents literally handed him over to me for mentorship.
“I am alone in the dark, wondering, is that it? Should we remain fearless? Somebody should tell me something,” Chidoka added while mourning the loss of the financial expert.
Their laughter and farewells during their last interaction now haunt Chidoka, who mourns the loss of a strong supporter and friend.
Wigwe tragically passed away in a helicopter crash on Friday, along with his wife, son, and others.
Investigations point to wintry weather conditions as a contributing factor to the crash, according to US authorities.
