Amidst backlash from disappointed fans following Nigeria’s AFCON final defeat to Ivory Coast, Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi, has made a drastic move on social media.
Iwobi, responding to criticisms, deleted all his Instagram photos shortly after the heartbreaking loss, leaving only one video post, and locked the comment section.
The Fulham star, who played for 79 minutes in the final match, faced the brunt of the fans’ frustration after the team’s dream of securing a fourth continental crown was shattered.
Having started his career at Arsenal, Iwobi amassed 149 appearances and scored fifteen goals, including a memorable goal in the 2019 UEFA Europa League final.
