Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has announced a staggering N20 million bounty on criminals apprehended within the FCT.
Wike’s declaration came during the presentation of suspects involved in kidnappings, one-chance robberies, and other criminal activities by the FCT police command in Abuja.
Emphasizing zero tolerance for criminality in the capital, Wike pledged imminent reinforcements for law enforcement, including enhanced communication gadgets and essential equipment to bolster security operations.
Amid reports of nearly 50 kidnapping incidents and over 200 victims in the past three years, concerns over FCT’s security prompted calls for urgent action, with the Commissioner for Public Complaint, Dalhatu Ezekiel, urging the federal government to declare a state of emergency.
Ezekiel further implored Minister Wike to consider halting ongoing projects if necessary to address the pressing security challenges impacting the lives of FCT residents.
