Popular Nigerian Comedian, Seyi Law, has hinted at retracting his allegiance to President Bola Tinubu due to the nation’s economic challenges, citing social media backlash and personal discomfort.
Peoples Gazette reports that during a Valentine’s Day event at Rosticks Bar in Lagos, Seyi Law confessed to feeling overwhelmed by criticism for supporting Tinubu, whose policies have exacerbated economic hardships.
Addressing the audience, Seyi Law humorously remarked on the physical toll of “standing” on Tinubu’s mandate, signaling a shift in his stance.
“Mandate dey make leg pain me o,” Seyi Law exclaimed, alluding to the strain caused by Tinubu’s alleged role in worsening the economic crisis.
Despite receiving cheers and cash from the audience, Seyi Law expressed frustration at not receiving financial support from Tinubu, jokingly implying that tangible benefits would strengthen his loyalty.
“If to say Tinubu do like this (gives me cash like this), you think say I no go dey praise am. Idiot!
“You wey I no even know, na you dey give me something like this,” he said, praising his fans for the monetary support shown to him.
However, Seyi Law’s true stance remains ambiguous, as he later tweeted his continued support for Tinubu, likening his loyalty to following Moses to Canaan despite challenges.
Despite online criticism, the comedian reaffirmed his commitment to voting for Tinubu in future elections, underscoring his unwavering support despite personal discomfort.
