Augustine Uchenna Stephen, a prominent figure in Abia State’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in a surprising move, has announced his departure from the party, citing internal disarray as his reason.

In his resignation letter addressed to the state and ward party officials, Stephen emphasized his decision came after extensive consultations, refraining from disclosing his next political affiliation.

This development follows closely after the exit of former Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Ifeanyi Uchendu, who defected to the APC, lauding the performances of two APC Federal lawmakers, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.

Stephen’s letter, a copy of which was obtained by MUK TV, stated: “I wish to formally resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, with effect from the date of this letter. This is for personal reasons, after wide consultations with friends and members of my family.”

Expressing dissatisfaction with the party’s performance, Stephen emphasized his approval of the present administration’s efforts in Abia State.

While some members expressed surprise at Stephen’s departure, the Abia State chapter of the PDP maintains that the party remains strong and active, dismissing claims of collapse or decay.
