Residents of key areas in the Federal Capital Territory are bracing up for a significant power outage lasting seven hours over the weekend, as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) undertakes crucial maintenance work.
According to TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the scheduled maintenance will target the 132/33kV 2X100MVA power Transformers in Apo Transmission Substation.
“The Transmission Company of Nigeria wishes to inform the public that its maintenance crew will carry out planned preventive maintenance on its 132/33kV 2X100MVA power Transformers in Apo Transmission Substation,” TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, said in a statement on Saturday.
Mbah emphasized that the maintenance will occur on both Saturday and Sunday, spanning from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm each day.
As a result, affected districts including Garki, Asokoro, Lugbe, Airport Road, and more, will be plunged into darkness during the maintenance period.
Abuja DisCo, responsible for power distribution in the region, will be unable to supply electricity from the two transformers to its customers.
While acknowledging the inconvenience caused, Mbah assured residents that power supply will be restored promptly by 4:00 pm on both days.
With apologies for any disruption, TCN urges affected consumers to bear with them as they strive to improve the power infrastructure in the region.
