The All Progressives Congress (APC) is grieving the loss of member Comfort Adebanjo and six others in a stampede triggered by attempts to purchase seized rice sold by the Nigeria Customs Service.

Amid escalating economic hardship, the ruling party confirmed the fatalities and calls for collective mourning.

Customs, responding to nationwide outcry over rising living costs, announces plans for direct distribution of seized food items to alleviate food insecurity.

However, tragedy struck as a stampede erupted, claiming seven lives.

APC officials, Coordinator Oluwafemi Fadahunsi and Secretary Comrade Adebari Adewale, confirmed Adebanjo’s demise in the fatal incident.

In an obituary release, the party expressed profound sorrow, praying for solace for the bereaved family and community.

“It is with heavy hearts and regret we announce the painful death of one of our members in FKL WARD E1, Mrs Adebanjo Comfort Funmilayo of house number 104, Ibidun street by AKINHANMI street, Ojuelegba.

“She was among the 7 victims who died in the course of buying custom rice at Yaba.

“May God grant all the members of her family and all the residents of WARD E1 the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss,” the statement reads.
