Amidst a heated controversy surrounding Abia State Government’s equity in the Geometric Power Plant, the management of the facility has disclosed that the state holds a 3½% stake in the $800 million project.

Speaking to reporters in Umuahia, Geometric Power Plant’s spokesperson, Mr. Chijioke Ogbodo, clarified the state government’s ownership in the power plant, putting an end to the ongoing debate.

The clarification comes amidst a media frenzy fueled by conflicting statements from aides of former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and those of the incumbent Governor, Alex Otti.

Recall that MUK TV earlier reported on how the controversy sparked a media war between Ikpeazu and Otti’s aides, causing a frenzy in the media landscape of Abia.

While Ikpeazu’s camp claimed a 5% investment during his tenure, Otti’s team denied having any evidence of such ownership.

Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, stated that the state government would investigate the matter to ascertain the truth.

Geometric Power Plant, a private-sector-driven venture, is poised to generate 188 megawatts of electricity, with 100 megawatts earmarked for distribution within Aba and its environs.

The project holds promise for stable power supply in Abia, marking a potential turning point in the region’s energy landscape.

Professor Barth Nnaji, the brain behind the multi-million dollar venture, emphasized the importance of consistent gas supply for sustained operation, underscoring the potential for a power revolution in Nigeria.
