Amid mounting public fury over alleged extortion and illicit transactions, the Nigerian Police Force has unleashed a sweeping ban on the use of point-of-sale (POS) machines and electronic payment devices within its precincts, signaling a seismic shift in its battle against corruption.
In a stern warning issued by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the Police headquarters underscored the imperative of upholding integrity and security in law enforcement operations, vowing severe sanctions for violators.
“The ban aims to purge police facilities of potential criminal infiltration and maintain discipline,” Adejobi declared, unleashing a fierce crackdown on erring commands and formations.
Despite prior directives, rampant flouting of regulations has prompted a swift and uncompromising response from the Inspector General of Police (IGP), who has issued a stern ultimatum to scofflaws.
“The use of electronic payment devices poses grave risks, from compromising sensitive information to facilitating illicit activities,” the IGP cautioned, leaving no room for negotiation.
With unyielding resolve, the IGP has mandated strict compliance from all officers and personnel, warning of dire consequences for transgressors. From disciplinary measures to criminal prosecution, the full force of the law will be unleashed upon any officer or POS operator found complicit in nefarious activities.
As the crackdown intensifies, the Nigerian Police Force sends a clear message: corruption has no sanctuary within its ranks, and those who dare to defy the ban will face swift and unrelenting justice.
