A bold attempt by a coalition of northern groups to force the departure of Igbos from Nigeria’s South-East has spectacularly collapsed in the Federal High Court of Abuja.

The drama unfolded as the court dismissed the suit, filed by a group led by Nastura Shariff, Balarabe Rufa’I, Abdul-Aziz Sulaiman, and Aminu Adam, seeking to compel the National Assembly to orchestrate the Igbo exit before finalizing constitutional amendments.

The plaintiffs’ absence from court and lack of legal representation sealed their fate, with Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo ruling that they had effectively abandoned their case.

With the gavel’s decisive strike, hopes of a swift resolution to the contentious issue evaporated.
