Former aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, sparked controversy by ridiculing Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi for his recent visit to a Mosque for Iftar.
In a fiery social media exchange on X (formerly Twitter), Ahmad mocked Obi’s gesture, suggesting it was merely theatrical.
He quipped, “Peter Obi loves dramas… acting in many scripts till 2027, yet producing an unsellable movie in the ballot boxes. I just watched his latest hit, his visit to a mosque in Nyaya where he joined Muslims during their breaking of the Ramadan fast.”
Obi’s visit, portrayed as a sacred duty aligned with the Ramadan season, drew attention to his engagement with the Muslim community and his broader initiative to aid those in need.
A striking picture of the LP presidential candidate surfaced online, showing him dining with the ‘Almajiri’ at the end of the day’s Ramadan fasting.
Despite his noble intentions, Ahmad’s scathing remarks ignited a social media storm, underscoring the intersection of politics and religious observance in Nigeria’s electoral landscape.
