A 60-year-old Catholic priest, Javier Sánchez, tragically passed away after his robes caught fire during an Easter vigil ceremony in Zaragoza, Spain.

Reports from Daily Mail indicate that Father Sánchez suffered severe burns, accounting for 50 percent of his body, during the Easter weekend accident involving a candle-lit ember bowl.

Despite valiantly standing between the burning bowl and nuns to shield them, Father Sánchez succumbed to his injuries after four days in intensive care.
