The Kano State High Court in the capital city has slated April 17 for the arraignment of former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, his wife, and six others on bribery and funds diversion charges.
According to SaharaReporters, the Abba Kabir Yusuf-led Kano State Government is taking Ganduje, his wife, and six others to court on eight counts, including bribery and misappropriation allegations amounting to billions of naira.
The defendants, including Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Hafsat Umar, and others, face charges related to bribery, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds.
Court documents reveal that Ganduje, during his tenure, allegedly received kickbacks totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars from contractors engaged by the state government, constituting acts of official corruption under Kano State laws.
The charges outline instances where Ganduje purportedly solicited and received illegal benefits from contractors, violating anti-corruption statutes in Kano State.
