Channels Television reporter, Joshua Rogers, who was abducted from his home in the Rumuosi area of Obio/Akpor, Rivers State, has been safely released.
According to reports, Rogers regained his freedom around 10 p.m. on Friday, less than 24 hours after his abduction.
His colleague, Charles Oporum, shared the news of his release, stating, “Yes, he has been released about an hour ago, and has reunited with his family.”
Channels Television also confirmed the release with a statement: “Channels Television reporter, Joshua Rogers, who was abducted last night in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has been freed. We thank our viewers and all those who expressed concern over the unfortunate incident.”
Details on whether Rogers was rescued by security forces or if a ransom was involved remain unclear.
However, both the Police and the Department of State Services (DSS) had initiated rescue operations during his captivity.
Rogers, serving as the Government House Correspondent for Channels TV in Port Harcourt, was celebrated in a video that captured joyful moments with his family following his release.
