The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has officially declared Yahaya Bello, the immediate past governor of Kogi State, wanted in connection with alleged economic and financial crimes amounting to N80.2 billion.
In a public announcement shared on its official Facebook page on Thursday, the EFCC called for assistance in locating Bello.
“Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, is wanted by the EFCC for offences relating to economic and financial crimes to the tune of N80.2 billion. Anybody with information as to his whereabouts should report immediately to the commission or the nearest police station,” the statement urged.
This development follows a recent incident reported by Vanguard on Wednesday, where EFCC officials attempted to apprehend Bello at his residence in Abuja.
In a dramatic turn of events, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo intervened, rescuing Bello with the help of his security team, thwarting the EFCC’s efforts.
