Following orders from Inspector General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun, a female police officer serving as the aide-de-camp to former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has been detained.
The ADC, along with other police officers assigned to the 48-year-old ex-governor, is currently held at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abuja, following suspicions of aiding and abetting Bello’s escape from EFCC operatives.
Senior police sources revealed that the detention was prompted by allegations that the officers facilitated Bello’s escape when EFCC officials attempted to arrest him at his Abuja residence on Wednesday.
The female ADC and the other officers were brought to the command on Friday morning and detained in connection with the governor’s alleged escape.
The withdrawal of police officers from Bello was ordered by Egbetokun on Thursday night, as stated in a police wireless message obtained by journalists on Friday morning.
