The Katsina State Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has revealed the nomination fees for contenders eyeing local government chairman seats, setting the bar at five million naira.
Confirming the decision, Katsina APC Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Bala Abu Musawa, stressed the importance of direct payments into the party’s account.
He also disclosed that councillor hopefuls would need to shell out 1.5 million naira for their nomination forms.
The announcement came after a high-stakes meeting at the presidential banquet hall, Katsina Government House, attended by key state executives and party officials from all 34 local governments.
Alhaji Bala Abu revealed that form sales kick off on May 1st, wrapping up by May 4th, with completed submissions due to the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) by May 9th.
Quoting SIEC’s election timetable, he outlined primary elections slated for May 18th for council chairmen, followed by councillor elections on May 22nd.
The final candidate roster resulting from the primaries must reach the electoral commission by May 20th.
In a plea for compliance, he also urged contestants to strictly adhere to campaign guidelines as the electoral process unfolds.
