Pregnant woman named Chinwendu Igwe has given birth to a healthy baby boy while held captive by kidnappers in the dense forests of Egede, Udi local government area, Enugu State.
The dramatic incident happened last Monday as Chinwendu, accompanied by her two young children, aged two and four, was en route to the hospital for delivery.
Her husband, Mr. Ekene Igwe, recounted the ordeal, stating he paid a ransom of N1.6 million to secure the release of his wife and newborn from the kidnappers’ clutches in Egede’s forest, where the ransom was demanded.
Fortunately, a compassionate motorcyclist rescued Chinwendu’s abandoned children, left by the kidnappers on the roadside.
“I paid a ransom of N1.6 million before I could get my wife and the newborn baby,” Igwe disclosed, expressing gratitude for their safe return.
Hailing from Attakwu Akegbe Ugwu Awkunanaw, Igwe credited divine intervention for their miraculous reunion.
