Nigerian superstar Ayodeji Balogun, known as Wizkid, ignited a social media storm by dubbing Mavin Records CEO Don Jazzy as simply an “influencer.”

Despite his usual low-key online presence, Wizkid recently stirred the pot on X, responding to a fan’s query about Mavin Record signee Ladipoe’s recent statements.

In a tweet, Wizkid declared, “Lol, I’m never chatting to anyone signed to an influencer. Next.”

Ladipoe’s remarks referenced a significant 2022 moment when Wizkid proclaimed “Rap is Dead” in an interview with 10 magazine, sparking discussions about the evolution of music genres.

Fans swiftly reacted to Wizkid’s tweet, with some celebrating the return of the “old Wizkid,” while others raised concerns about perceived disrespect toward Don Jazzy.

@Guccistarb exclaimed, “Na influencer sign Ladipo ke! The Wizkid I know is back!!!”

@Abazwhyllzz chimed tweeted, “All this energy you’re wasting on Twitter, if you channel it into the studio, you’d have won your own Grammy by now.”

@DanielRegha pointed out a potential double standard, questioning Wizkid’s collaboration with Tiwa Savage while she was signed to Don Jazzy.
