In a significant development aimed at fostering unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, former lawmaker Senator Magnus Abe has publicly declared reconciliation with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, signaling an end to their longstanding feud.
Abe, known for his political differences with Wike, took to Facebook to announce the peace accord, emphasizing his dedication to resolving the rift, as reported by The Punch.
“I have made peace with the Honourable Minister of the FCT, and former governor of Rivers State,” Abe shared in his Facebook post, underscoring the importance of unity within the party.
Highlighting their joint attendance at Chief Tony Okocha’s thanksgiving ceremony, Abe hailed the gesture as a demonstration of his commitment to bridging divides within the APC.
Commending Wike’s approach to conflict resolution, Abe expressed gratitude for the minister’s sincerity and commitment to creating a united front within the party.
“The disagreements within are over and done for good because the oxygen for conflict has been extinguished,” Abe affirmed, expressing optimism for a united APC in Rivers State.
Acknowledging the role of Chief Okocha in facilitating the reconciliation, Abe extended gratitude and reiterated his allegiance to the APC.
While recognizing the need for further discussions, Abe urged party members to prioritize economic concerns for the time being, stressing the importance of unity and collaboration.
With Abe’s return to the APC in January 2024 after a brief stint with the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the reconciliation marks a significant step forward in the political landscape of Rivers State.
