Despite the absence of incarcerated former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, Chief Olisa Metuh, alongside family members, commemorated Ekweremadu’s 62nd birthday.
Metuh shared the celebration details on X.com, highlighting the strength and resilience displayed by Ekweremadu’s daughters, particularly Sonia, during challenging times.
“We cut a birthday cake in his honor and enjoyed a sumptuous lunch in celebration. May the Almighty God give him peace and good health as we pray for a grand reunion in Jesus’ name,” Metuh expressed.
Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, were convicted of organ trafficking in the United Kingdom in March 2023. Following a six-week trial at the Old Bailey, they were sentenced to nine years and eight months and four years and six months imprisonment, respectively, for their involvement in plotting to harvest a man’s kidney.
