A soldier stationed at Banex Plaza, a popular phone market in Wuse 2, Abuja, allegedly slapped a woman into a coma.
According to The Punch, the incident occurred on Tuesday when the woman, trekking on the barricaded road, was stopped by soldiers.
After questioning her, one of the soldiers slapped her, causing her to collapse.
She was then rushed into a van that quickly left the scene.
It remains unclear if she was taken to a hospital for medical attention.
Banex Plaza has been shut down for four days following a brawl between traders and soldiers on Saturday.
The altercation began when a trader allegedly sold a defective phone, prompting the buyer to call in soldiers.
Despite police intervention, soldiers returned, forcing the traders to close their shops.
Traders at Banex Plaza have expressed frustration over the continued military presence, citing significant financial losses.
Videos circulating on social media show soldiers chasing and punishing individuals at the plaza.
The army has yet to make an official statement regarding the incident, and spokesperson Onyema Nwachukwu has not commented at the time of this report.
