President Bola Tinubu has signed the National Anthem Bill 2024, officially reinstating the old national anthem, “Nigeria, we hail thee.”
Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced this on Wednesday during a joint session of the National Assembly, celebrating the Silver Jubilee of Nigeria’s 4th Republic, as reported by Sahara Reporters.
Akpabio stated that the primary purpose of the session is to launch the new national anthem, noting that the President will not be giving a speech as he needs to depart to inaugurate the Abuja metro line.
The Senate and the House of Representatives had already passed the bill in separate sittings.
