The controversy involving Paul Okoye of Psquare and Elshama Benson Igbanoi revolves around the alleged abandonment of Elshama and her newborn son at a London hospital.
Elshama, a 19-year-old former beauty queen, claims that Paul Okoye is the father of her child, asserting that she lost her virginity to him at the age of 17 and had no other sexual partners.
The child was born on April 7, 2013, at Queen Charlotte and Chelsea Hospital in London, just days before Paul’s other son with Anita was born in Atlanta.
Despite Elshama’s assertions, Paul has denied paternity, demanding a DNA test to confirm whether he is indeed the father.
During this period, Elshama and her family faced significant financial difficulties, with hospital bills exceeding £5,000 remaining unpaid, leading to harassment from the hospital administration.
Paul’s denial and his demand for a DNA test have been consistent. Meanwhile, Elshama’s father, Benson Igbanoi, has stated publicly that his daughter was faithful to Paul and that he tried to contact the Psquare camp multiple times without receiving a response.
Despite the ongoing issues, Paul Okoye continued to receive backing from his brother Jude Okoye, who supported him throughout this controversial period.
The media coverage of this story has been intense, with various outlets reporting on the dramatic developments and the emotional toll on Elshama and her family.
The situation remains unresolved, with questions about the child’s paternity and Paul Okoye’s involvement still lingering. Only Peter Okoye, Paul’s twin brother, has been described as having a more level-headed approach amidst the controversy.
