Mr. John Mayaki, the Country Director of the Coalition for Good Governance and Economic Justice in Africa, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for their significant achievements in Abuja’s infrastructure renewal projects.
However, he noted that the rapid development has left Google Maps users confused, according to Vanguard.
Mayaki shared his firsthand experience, stating, “I have had to navigate the same area in Abuja multiple times recently before finding my way, as even Google Maps and its users are confused due to the road network.”
Despite the inconvenience, he marveled at the impressive progress under Tinubu’s administration.
While lauding Tinubu and Wike for their efforts, Mayaki emphasized the importance of synchronizing the newly constructed roads with Google Maps to enhance navigation efficiency.
He recounted a frustrating journey near Abacha Barracks, highlighting the need for integration between urban development projects and digital navigation tools.
Mayaki also pointed out instances in Jahi, Katampe, Guzape, and Wuye where Google Maps failed to recognize new routes, leading to confusion for users.
He concluded by advocating for better coordination to ensure seamless travel in Abuja amidst its rapid transformation.
